— Tournament
• Place: The Lorne Davis Complex 8888 University Drive, Burnaby, BC
• Time: 8:30 AM until 8:00 PM Saturday May 20th and Sunday May 21st, 2017

Registration
• All teams must register by March 31st, 2017 to be eligible to play in the Tournament
• All registered teams must send their community name, team name, coach’s name and phone number to [email protected]
• Registration for one team is $300. Cheque and money order is the only payment method
• Please make cheques payable to Native Education College and send cheques to:

Early Bird Registration
• Early Bird Registration is open to all teams registering for the Tournament
• Early Bird Registration for one team is $250. Teams will not be eligible for the Early Bird Registration price if we receive your payment after March 15th. No exceptions

Divisions
• There are Sr Men’s, Sr Women’s, Jr Men’s, Jr Women’s, Coed and Masters Divisions
• Registration in each Division is confirmed by payment. Wait lists will be established for each division. Divisions could be removed if there is not enough interest. Size of divisions is yet to be determined. Last year divisions were 8 or 4 teams

Call for Volunteers
• Everyone is able to volunteer for the NEC & SFU Native Basketball Tournament 2017
• To be a volunteer send your name and contact to [email protected]

Call for Vendors
• Vendors will be able to purchase one table each day of the Tournament. One table costs $25 per day. The Tournament will provide tables, please do not bring your own
• Deadline for Vendors is March 31st
• Vendors please email your name, contact information and what you plan to vend to [email protected] No Food Vendors
• To secure your table please make cheques payable to Native Education College and send cheques to: 285 E 5th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1H2

Youth Basketball Clinic
• There will be a FREE Youth Basketball Clinic for ages 8-12 and 13-17
• The Youth Basketball Clinic is available to all North American Indigenous Youth
• Please register youth by sending their ages, names and community names to [email protected] Registration will be first come first serve
• This is not child minding. Parents or adults please be present to sign in your youth

Hotels and Accommodations
• There will be more information regarding hotels and accommodations in the future

Tournament Rules
FIBA rules and regulations apply, with the following modifications:
General Rules
• There is absolutely no smoking, no alcohol and no drugs permitted on the premises. Anyone caught with or using these banned substances will be asked to leave immediately
• The format of the Tournament is double knockout
• FIBA over and back rules apply. There will be no over and back call on the opening tip
• Substitutes are allowed to enter between free throws
• Finalized Tournament Rosters must be given to registration prior to tip off of the first half of the team’s first game
• Teams may begin the game with four players. However if a 5th player has not arrived 15 minutes into the game, it is declared a forfeit
• In the case of a tie, overtime will consist of five minutes of running time
• No refunds will be granted from the Tournament unless the event is cancelled or a division is removed. Entry fees cover facility rentals, officials, insurance etc. The Tournament Committee is not responsible for teams attendance at the Tournament

Player Rules
• Each team is permitted 2 non-Aboriginal exception players
• Professional and Semi-Professional Players are not eligible to play at the Tournament. If, during the Tournament, a player is found to be a Professional or Semi-Professional Player the player, and/or their team, will be ejected from the Tournament at the discretion of the Tournament Committee
• Players in the Youth Divisions must be 18 years old or younger on game day to be eligible
• Players in the Masters Division must be at least 35 years old on game day to be eligible
• All Coed Division games must be played with at least 2 women players on the court at all times
• Players must play in at least one game on day one to be eligible for semi-final and/or championship games
• A player cannot play for more than one team in each Division

Player Conduct
• Everyone is a representative and spokesperson of their Nation and Community
• All teams and players must sign a Sportsmanlike Code of Conduct
• Unacceptable behavior and abusive language towards any participants at the Tournament may result in an immediate ejection from the Tournament at the discretion of the Tournament Committee
• Two unsportsmanlike Technical Fouls in one game will result in suspension from that game. Unsportsmanlike Technical Fouls during the Tournament may result in an ejection from the Tournament at the discretion of the Tournament Committee

Game Length
• First Half: 20 minutes running time
• Second Half: 18 minutes running time. Final two minutes stop time unless the point spread is 10 or greater
• Championship Games: two 20 minute halves with stop time (FIBA rules apply)

In Game Time
• One 60 second timeout per half is allowed with no carry over
• One 60 second timeout in overtime is allowed with no carry over
• The Shot Clock is 24 seconds at the officials discretion

Fouls
• Foul Penalty is two shots on the 10th Team Foul per half
• Technical Foul Penalty is two shots with ball possession at centre court
