To all interested Budoka,
Sorry for taking a little extra time to get this information out to you but we now have everything set up and I wanted to share with you the details of the Seminar featuring Yahagi Sensei hosted by RSR Canada — BC Region.
We will be holding the seminar on Saturday October 7th, Sunday October 8th and Monday October 9th which is a holiday weekend both in the US and in Canada so it actually works out that we followed the planned schedule of New York Budokai as best we could. There will be a total of 4 x 3 hour practice sessions which will be held at an outside venue not far from North Vancouver Aikikai. For your interest, here is some info on the dance studio which we have rented for this event:
2500 sq ft sprung floor with Marley floor covering, roll up doors and overhead fans in a warehouse like building with skylights and loads of natural light and 8 ft high mirrors along one complete wall. This venue is a short car ride from the dojo and from the hotel, wen’ll figure out transportation when we get a little closer to the event.
All of the pricing for the event is explained on the event and payment pages, RSR members would be those that have Yudanshu Books and have paid this year's annual fee to Ryushin Shouchi Ryu International. There is a limitation to the number of participants in each class so priority is given to those participants who are paid up for the whole event in case we are over subscribed with local one day only participants.
For our out of town guests, we have made a block reservation at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel lonsdalequayhotel.com/
for $169 CDN per night with double room occupancy. To get this special rate please call to reserve at: 1-800-836-6111 and ask for the “Ryushin Group ”, this offer will only be available until Sept15th and there is a limited number of rooms, so don’t wait.
We are planning to have Grading done by Yahagi Sensei on Sunday October 8th commencing at about 3 pm at North Vancouver Aikikai and after that we will be doing a public embu (location still to be determined) at around 5 pm. Afterward, we have a planned group dinner at a nearby restaurant that has a great selection of food, many different beers and wines right on the water front and about 100 feet away from the Lonsdale Quay Hotel. See the Tap and Barrel Docklands menu:

Lastly, don’t forget that the American dollar is at a premium to the Canadian currency, your dollars are worth $1.25 up here so that will make some difference too. Also, there are wonderful restaurants and lots of touristy things to do and getting from North Vancouver to downtown Vancouver, there is a sea bus that runs regularly across the How Sound every 15 minutes to downtown. We live a lovely part of Canada and tourism is one of our largest industries here.
Any questions please do not hesitate to email or call. Regards JP
