As coaches and personal trainers, there’s no better time than today to learn new skills and elements that will help our clients achieve their goals.
There is so much information at our fingertips with the internet and access to certifications and workshops it can be challenging for personal trainers to structure the process for the client. The challenge becomes properly selecting what skill or element should be worked to improve an attribute of athleticism or fitness. Then once that skill or element is determined, how do you properly identify the appropriate starting point so that success can be achieved by their client safely? These important questions are ones that can only be answered if specific principles are followed.
Functional Assessment – A Critical Component of Personal Training
Anthony Agtarap, CSCS and Keshava Raghuveer, CPT can help to answer these questions in a special workshop they’ve developed specifically for personal trainers and coaches. They have over 30 years combined experience as multi-sport athletes and coaches and are passionate about helping personal trainers and coaches expand their knowledge and improve their training and coaching skills.
Learn the Why of Exercise Selection, Corrective Strategies, Advanced Techniques and Program Design
This workshop will cover a number of topics that will empower personal trainers and coaches with knowledge of principles and practical tools that can help coaches and personal trainers ask better questions and understand the “why” behind exercise selection, corrective strategies, advanced techniques and program design. The agenda of the workshop is as follows:

Client intake: What does your current client intake process look like and is it effective?
Assessments: Why are they important? What is your current functional assessment process?
Breakout session 1 – The squat: prerequisites, assessment, corrective strategies, progressions, lateralizations,

Breakout session 2 – bent arm strength (pulling/pushing): prerequisites, assessment, corrective strategies, progressions, lateralizations,
