You are invited to attend and join in celebrating the opening night of Glax-xwi-dah, a solo exhibition of the works of Gitxsan, Cree, Haida, adopted Kwagiulth First Nations artist, Corey Larocque (Nokatsi) at Skwachays Gallery.
Corey has been creating art for the past 10 years and carving for ceremonial purposes. His mentors include celebrated Kwakwaka'wakw carver Beau Dick; Wayne Alfred; Marcus Alfred and Russell Smith.
Corey works in a variety of mediums. Carving, painting, repousse with his impressive portfolio including masks, totems, jewelry, and painting.
This is Corey's first solo exhibition exemplifying several disciplines in one show. Presenting a culmination of the skills he has learned from his mentors throughout his artistic career.
There will be special guest speakers and light refreshments.
