Centre For Socialist Education
706 Clark Drive, Vancouver, British Columbia V5L 3J1
This event takes place on the stolen, ancestral and unceeded Coast Salish Territories of the the sḵwx̱wú7mesh, sel̓íl̓witulh, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm nations. We must not only acknowledge this, but actively be in solidarity with the peoples to whom this land belongs.
Join the Young Communist League and the Centre for Socialist Education for a celebration of the start of Cuba's Revolution. July 26 marks Moncada day, where just 160 dedicated revolutionaries sparked the revolution that would dramatically improve the lives of the Cuban people until this day. Despite endless political attacks on Cuba by the United States including an illegal blockade, and countless assassination attempts of Fidel Castro, Cuba remains a socialist state, a place that is an inspiration to us all who are fighting for socialism. This reminds us that a small group of radicals fighting for the working class can make a lasting impact on history and present.
There will be a barbecue with food for sale, poetry, speakers and live music! Join us for food, celebration, learning more about the Young Communist League and the UBC Young Communists, and most of all enjoy a rad evening! Entrance by donation.
This event is a safe space for LGBTQIA2 folks, people of colour and women identified folks. Sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia and any other oppressive behaviours will not be tolerated.
