A concert of fusion music and poetry celebrating intercultural friendship in Vancouver, featuring:
Deep friendships exist among people of different religions and cultures. In these relationships, differences are a cause for celebration and an opportunity to learn. The key to meaningful relationships is to connect people, as individuals, and to create a shared environment where conversation can happen. HEARTBEAT, an event about creating connections, will bring people together from diverse cultures and create a space for dialogue.
Across cultures and religions, music is a shared experience that has the power to bring disconnected individuals together as a community. HEARTBEAT is an event where musicians of different backgrounds will come together and create music that fuses musical genres. Music is a highly expressive language and this event’s musical content will be a dialogue between musicians about belonging, love, and community.
HEARTBEAT is about celebrating our differences and our humanity, and discarding the notion of «us versus them» to the notion of just «us». Through a night of collaborative music and poetry, the project aims to create friendships and spark dialogue across communities in Vancouver.
