UNYA - Urban Native Youth Association
1618 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, British Columbia V5L 1S6
Join us this Valentine's Day to honour the spirits of missing and murdered Indigenous women and matriarchs across Turtle Island. We will stand up for future generations with our ancestors strength behind us!
We'll be meeting at UNYA in the Native Youth Learning Centre, at 11 am. From there, we'll go together to Carnegie Hall to join the noon. We'll have bus tickets and snacks as well!
The march will be taking to the streets and proceed through the Downtown Eastside, with stops to commemorate where women were last seen or found, speeches by community activists at Main and Hastings, a healing circle at Oppenheimer Park around 2:30 pm, and a community feast at the Japanese Language Hall.
This event is organized and led by women in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside because women – especially Indigenous women – face physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual violence on a daily basis. The February 14th Women’s Memorial March is an opportunity to come together to grieve the loss of our beloved sisters, remember the women who are still missing, and to dedicate ourselves to justice.
Please know the protocol for the march, which you can find on the Women's Memorial March website here:
