The average Canadian produces 777 kg of garbage per year. Can you imagine not producing any? Come challenge modern consumerism with a workshop and discussion brought to you by the UBC Zero Waste Squad, Sprouts, Melt Collective and Common Energy UBC
Following the model of our first workshop held in November, you'll be able to learn the basics of living without waste from students who have actually tested it out. The event will be split into four different workshops from which you'll get to choose 3:
— Zero Waste Hierarchy & Basics
— Zero Waste Tips & Tools
— Zero Waste Controversy & Discussion
*Note — the event will officially end at 7pm, but we welcome those interested to stick around until 7:30 for an informal discussion and to ask workshop presenters questions.
Information on tickets coming soon, limited tickets available! Tickets are $10 each with proceeds going towards Sprouts and Pull Together.
Sprouts is a 100% non-profit student-run initiative that aims to make healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food accessible to everyone on campus. Sprouts is currently raising money in order to outfit their newly renovated cafe, opening Sept. 2018 in the Life Building.
And if all of this wasn't appealing enough, we'll be serving zero waste snacks including Sprouts brownies! Don't forget a container :)
We would like to acknowledge that this event will take place on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people.
