Locals Lounge is a live interview and music series featuring Vancouver's best talent, letting audiences discover the people behind the music. This month it is our pleasure to welcome alt-soul rocker Tom Van Deursen.
Our stage will once again welcome this technical and musical wizard, having previously appeared at our April 2017 event with Erica Dee. Tom will be stepping into the spotlight to tell us about his musical adventures at the helm of Small Town Artillery, his globe-crossing trip with a cadre of outspoken public intellectuals, and life with Vancouver indie legends The Boom Booms.
Rock 'n' roll soul sister Chelsea D.E Johnson will start the night at 7 with her signature blend of powerful lyrics and vocals.
Doors at Belmont open at 6:30, and music starts at 7. Advance sale tickets are available through Eventbrite, and entry at the door is by donation ($10 suggested).
Tom van Deursen has been a «full-time musician» for 11 years, and has lived in Vancouver for the same amount of time. Born here and exported as a child to the bosom of the Kootenays, he picked up the guitar at age 11 after watching Colin James play his hometown of Kaslo's jazz festival. It was love at first lick, and a dream was born. He plays guitar in Vancouver's Alt-Soul kings The Boom Booms and fronts his own rock & roll band called Small Town Artillery. He also plays solo shows, and thoroughly enjoys traversing the planet with his guitar by his side. There are stories to tell everywhere.
