Scratcha DVA / DVA Hi:Emotions
Scratcha DVA — BIO
Scratcha DVA is a highly respected DJ and producer and one of
Hyperdub’s Key players. Throughout his career he’s been immune
to easy genre definitions, as a producer who has cut a joyful path
through dance music, joining the dots between trends and styles
into his colourful productions.
His latest album under the moniker DVA [Hi:Emotions] was regarded by press as one of his best works he’s produced and as FACT put it “A dystopian tale of humanity ruled by a universal mega corporation in a branded virtual reality, DVA’s speculative sonic fiction obscures the previously blurred edges of grime, house and UK funky even more.”
He’s gone from strength from strength with his EP’s as well with
his Take It All EP including remixes from Sinjin Hawke and his EP
‘Allyallrecords’ was a clear demonstration of that with his spoon
bender tracks with Addison Groove & Mickey Pearce. He’s often
been named the UK equivalent of Flying Lotus with his dance floor
ready tracks and ability to make standout house Hybrids that
sound like no one else.
Pearson Sound — BIO
As one third of the team behind the Hessle Audio label, David Kennedy a.k.a. Pearson Sound has become more than synonymous with the cutting edge of UK dancefloor music.
In releasing his self-titled debut artist album in 2015, he skilfully capitalised on his astoundingly solid run of single and EP releases since 2009, producing a hypnotically enveloping LP that really found its feet in its willingness to experiment. Since then, he has been focused on the club, with his recent single XLB being voted the #2 best track of 2016 by Resident Advisor, as well as Freeze & Thaw Cycle being a staple of some of the biggest house and techno DJs' record bags. He has lectured at the Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid, released a critically heralded FABRICLIVE compilation and has remixed artists like Radiohead, The xx and M.I.A. as well as running the vinyl only club night, Acetate, in Leeds. With the ten year anniversary of Hessle Audio on the horizon in 2017, somehow he’s still finding the time to help ensure that Hessle’s weekly radio show on London’s Rinse FM maintains its role as an essential part of the station’s broadcasting schedule.
Max Ulis — Max is half of Sabota, and a charter member of Lighta! Sound, which has been instrumental in the building of Vancouver’s underground movement for the better part of a decade. He has performed at prestigious festivals such as Decibel, Mutek, and New Forms, is a regular on the west coast festival circuit. His music has been played by notable performers such as Tim Green, Skream, B Traits, Shadow Child, Grenier, &ME, and Breakage and he’s shared the stage with a who’s who of contemporary dance music.
