As the term mindfulness becomes popularized in the Western world, this ancient practice is taking on a new, more modern shape — one characterized by greater attention to practical and medical benefits, and by the association mindfulness bears to contemporary social trends such as «life hacking.»
At its base, however, mindfulness practice is still the same basic thing it's always been — a fantastically useful application of the human faculty of conscious attention, from which almost anyone can gain insight.
This one hour workshop will consist of a guided discussion on the subject of mindfulness, followed by a 10 — 15 minute meditation exercise, and then a Q & A session in closing.
The discussion covers varying topics from session to session, which may include basic principles of mindfulness practice, the history of mindfulness and meditation, the scientific view of meditation and its benefits, etc.
A $5 admission fee will go to Lupii Cafe for light refreshments.
