A buzz-worthy field trip engaging students in their natural surroundings. Register before April 30th and receive $2 off per student!
As flowers bloom around VanDusen Botanical Garden, it’s the perfect setting for elementary students to learn about pollinators and the environments that support them. Bring your class on a walk through the Garden, and our facilitators will promote curiosity and stewardship through fun hands-on activities. You will be given a map outlining our stations, and may explore at your own pace during the day. Join us from 10 am – 2 pm alongside community partners such as Border Free Bees, Environmental Youth Alliance, and the Honey Bee Centre.

Our diverse activities encourage new discoveries while aligning with the BC Curriculum, and include:
— Observing pollinator biodiversity up close with microscopes
— Tasting different types of honey and visiting the working beehives where it is made
— Learning about bee life cycles and pollen collection, while testing out what it takes to pollinate
— Finding nectar like a bee by making pollinator art with UV paint and black lights
— Becoming an active citizen scientist, emphasizing native species ID and monitoring efforts
— A photo booth with plenty of fun pollinator props
— Plus other exciting games!
Who: Elementary-aged students with their educators and assistants
When: Wed. June 13 OR Thurs. June 14, 2018. 10 am – 2 pm. Please register for one day only

Cost: $10 / student. One adult is admitted free for every 10 children, including teachers. Additional adults pay $10
