06 poets in the second round--1 minute poems (max)
03 poets in the third round--4 minute poems (max)
No props or costumes or musical accompaniment may be used in your performance. It's just you and your words.
There is also an open mic plus a feature performer. This week's feature is yes
«yes is a radical queer migrant based in the tkaronto area, on the northern half of turtle island. they believe in the destruction of the heteropatriarchy, borders, and the capitalist police state. they come to poetry through the cuban traditions of being a dramatic lover and never shutting up.
yes has performed on stages across the world, and become a national champion in 2014. they are on the Voices of Today national youth festival organizing committee and are heavily invested in building a stronger, and more radical, national community of poets/humans. they write a lot about state violence, their feelings (they have so many), and resistance. yes also organizes with No One Is Illegal — Toronto and the Mining Injustice Solidarity Network, and is staff with One Mic Educators.»
Vancouver Poetry House strives to put on trans friendly events and we hope you can help us towards that goal. Also, please be kind to our volunteers. It's cash only at the door and they have to enforce capacity rules due to fire codes.
it's $6-$10 sliding scale at the door but no one turned away for lack of funds.
There is a wheelchair ramp in place for access to the stage.
