How can Surrey be prepared for and address growing concerns of urban youth violence? How have historic segregation, inequalities in education and racial issues contributed to this problem/issue?
As one of the most diverse and rapidly growing cities in the province with a third of the population under the age of 19, Surrey is faced with a number of challenges affecting young people — including violence. In this session, issues of inequality, racism and segregation that affect urban youth violence will be discussed with examples and lessons shared from urban areas around Surrey that are dealing with this issue with varying degrees of success.
