Join us for an evening all about blockchain as a lever for positive change!
The evening will start with a talk about global connectivity, technology, and equality and how emerging technologies such as mesh networking and blockchain can be used as a force for equality, transparency, and decentralization.
Following the talk, we'll learn the basics of Ethereum smart contracts and Solidity by creating an ATM to serve the unbanked. Even if you have little or no programming experience, this sampler will give you a solid idea of how a smart contract actually works.
6:00-6:45 — Talk by Melissa Quinn on blockchain in the impact space
6:45-7:00 — Q&A with Melissa
7:00-8:00 — Sampler with Mackenzie Kieran to create an Ethereum smart contract
Melissa is the Director of Corporate Strategy for Left, a local technology company in Maple Ridge, and RightMesh, which is a mobile mesh networking solution aiming to connect the next billion. She is also the Director of Canada for the Blockchain Users Group, which is a global organization look to expand the thriving blockchain and cryptocurrency community by connecting people, ideas, and resources.
