Showcase MixTape is a platform for artists to not only showcase their talents but showcase their thoughts, opinion, politics and story. Hosted by Chelsea D.E Johnson. Join us on our second installment of Showcase MixTape Vol 2.

Showcase MixTape will be held at The WISE Hall which is Located on the unceded Coast Salish Territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples.
Tickets are only 10 dollars and available at the door on the day of the show
You’ll note on arrival a set of railed stairs leading into the Hall. The wheelchair accessible entrance is around back. Please inform the door person of your arrival at the front entrance and they will open the back-ally entrance.
Once inside, you’ll find a spacious wood-floored hall, open concept, tables and chairs set up throughout. The stage (accessible only via stairs) is to your left, and the washrooms towards the back of the hall. The washrooms will be marked “gender neutral”.

Me_gang is a multi-instrumentalist performer who currently lives on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and T'sleil-Waututh people. They use their comfortable relationship with instruments to create soundscapes and songs that are a vessel for their expressions of oral tradition. They seek to foster shared understanding and to draw the creative spirit of their audiences into their performances.

Two Wings Soaring of the Buffalo clan otherwise known as jaye simpson is an Oji-Cree Anishinaabe Two Spirit warrior whose roots hail from the Sapotaweyak and Skownan Cree Nation. jaye is a libra sun, sagittarius rising, scorpio moon but delusionally identifies as a scorpio since it’s all over their birth chart. jaye holds firm their rage about being a former youth in care, as well as a queer indigenous person and weaves it into poetry and prose. jaye also explores the magic, intimacy and vulnerability they encounter as a healing creature amongst other healing beings. you can find them being awfully cliché in cafes on Commercial Drive and East Vancouver, they are in fact NOT writing screenplays, but sending important emails. jaye held the title of KPU’s Slamapalooza 2017 Champion and is currently on Vancouver Slam Poetry’s 2018 Slam Team heading to Guelph in the fall. they are published in Poetry Is Dead Issue 17: Coven. jaye is a displaced indigenous person living, creating and occupying on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-waututh), and sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) First Nations territories.
mitcholos is a nuuchahnulth spoken word artist, a Rising Voice Poet of Honor of CFSW 2017, a team member of the current Vancouver Poetry Slam team, and an avid dabber
Ayanda “lyric” Mgoduka
South African born writer, spoken word poet and vocalist; Lyric uses her platform to promote love and self-acceptance. Ayanda has shared stages with the likes of Thuli Zuma, Lebo Mashile, Buddy wakefield and Ma’am Gcina Mhlophe. Was the only poet to have won Poetry Africa in two consecutive years since its inception in 1997. As well a featured headliner at the Durban based event Sundowners festival, celebrating Diversity and Gender equality. Reciting poetry in 4 languages while merging her spoken word with music she brings a unique multicultural experience to the stage. She hopes to Create more room for unity and understanding thru her artistry.
